Background: Mr. Mirko Tepavak, the Yugoslavian Foreign Minister, arrived in Algiers on Monday (6 March) to start a four-day official visit. The visit was at the invitation of the Algerian Foreign Minister, M. Abdelaziz Bouteflika who was at the airport to greet Mr. Tepavak.
During his visit, Mr. Tepavak will meet Algerian President Houari Boumedienne. The visit will include talks with Algerian leaders on the situation in the Middle East and mattes relating directly to both countries.
SYNOPSIS: The Yugoslavian Foreign Minister, Mr. Mirko Tepavak, arrived in Algiers on Monday and was greeted by his Algerian counterpart, M. Abdelaziz Bouteflika.
Mr. Tepavak was starting a four-day official visit to the North African country--which he was making at the invitation of the Algerian Foreign Minister.
A guard of honour was on hand for the occasion as the two foreign ministers made their way across the airport.
A number of ambassadors from African, Middle Eastern and other nations greeted Mr. Tepavak--as did many Algerian officials who were at the airport. During his visit, the Yugoslavian Foreign Minister will meet Algerian President Houari Boumedienne and a number of the country's leaders.
While in Algeria, Mr. Tepavak will be discussing the Middle East situation and the problems of demilitarisation in the Mediterranean. He'll also be talking about issues directly related to Yugoslavia and Algeria such as trade, economic cooperation and cultural exchanges.
