LORD SELKIRK, BRITISH COMMISSIONER-GENERAL IN SOUTH-EAST ASIA, SAID IN LABUAN, NORTH BORNEO, ON MONDAY THAT THE BRITISH FORCES THERE MAY SOON BE REDUCED. THE REVOLT IN BRUNEI HAS COLLAPSED, BUT THE MOPPING-UP OF REBELS MAY TAKE SOME TIME, HE SAID AFTER A CONFERENCE OF MILITARY LEADERS.

ON TUESDAY, IT WAS REPORTED THAT BRITISH TROOPS SEARCHING DENSE JUNGLE IN BEKENU, SOUTH OF THE OIL TOWN OF MIRI IN NORTH SARAWAK, HAD KILLED SIX REBELS, WOUNDED FOUR AND CAPTURED 194.
