Background: Singer Judy Garland was married Sunday (14 November) to Mark Herron in the early hours of the morning at Las Vegas, Nevada, the gambling capital of the United States.
Miss Garland, wearing a gown of white and gold with a matching cape, was married to Herron in the Little Church of the West, a small commercial chapel on the Las Vegas "Strip" of neon-lit casinos and luxury hotels. Herron has been a frequent travelling companion of Miss Garland.
It was the fourth marriage for Miss Garland, who was divorced from her third husband, Sid Luft, last May.
The wedding took place at 1:30 a.m. on 14 November because Miss Garland said she wanted to avoid being married on the 13th.
Miss Garland was given away by Henry L. Dienna, a close friend. The wedding party, a group of eight persons, arrived by plane from Los Angeles.
The couple left for a week's honeymoon in San Francisco and nearby Carmel, California.
