Background: Prayers were said in a Mosque in Tripoli on Tuesday (12 Sept) over the bodies of the five Palestinian guerrillas killed in a gun battle with West Germany police.
The bodies had been flown to Libya from Munich after the shooting on September 5 in which 18 people died when German police tried to rescue nine Israeli Olympic team members held hostage by the guerrillas in Munich.
Outside the Bourguiba Mosque, a large crowd of mourners chanted a funeral dirge.
Mourners surged forward and tried to touch the coffins as they were carried from the Mosque and borne through the streets of Tripoli for burial. Meanwhile, the 'Black September' organisation issued what it said was a will made by the guerrillas before the attack on the Olympic Village.
