    St. Patrick's Day falls March 17; the last day of posting - if the shamrock is to arrive on time at its destination - March 14.

    Thousands of plastic envelopes, boxes, cartons, crates, keeping the shamrock free from bumps, jostles, knocks on their goodwill journey to all parts abroad, are being sorted, loaded, posted by extra staff. For them, it is a Christmas rush.

    Like Christmas at the G.P.O. these days with the thousands of envelopes and boxes of Shamrock leaving Ireland for all parts of the world, At the moment, it's, approx. 5,000 boxes per. day are leaving by post. Extra sorters are taken on by the Post Office to get through the work in order to be in time for St. Patrick's Day, the 17th. of March. Most of the parcels or boxes are for the U.S.A. and England. Special boxes and plastic envelopes are used to hold the Shamrock which must be washed and dried before mailing.
