THE BOMB -- ESTIMATED TO BE MORE THAN 10 PONDS OF PLASTIC EXPLOSIVES -- BLASTED THROUGH THE CEILING SPEWING GLASS, BRICKS AND DEBRIS.IT ALSO BLEW A HOLE IN A WALL AT THE REAR OF THE TERMINAL.IT WAS TIMED TO GO OFF WHILE A LARGE NUMBER OF AMERICAN SERVICEMEN WERE PREPARING TO BOARD AN AIRLINER TO RETURN TO THE UNITED STATES AT THE END OF THEIR TOURS IN SOUTH VIETNAM.MORE THAN 200 AMERICAN SERVICEMEN WERE IN AND AROUND THE TERMINAL WHEN THE BOMB WENT OFF.
