Thousands of people are taking part in the sponsored "WALK OF LOVE" in memory of the late President Makarios today, His nameday.
The Presidents addresses the crowd from the balcony of the ruined presidential Palace.
Kyprianou walks out from the gate through which Makarios escaped the day of the coup.
As the crowd follows, him, he walks through ??? uneven path behind the Presidential that Makarios used the day o??? his attack in July. All the people passed through that gate and the river and walked about 12 miles. The walk ended at the start po???t. The President did not continue, as he had to be present at the mass service.

Background: Thousands of people are taking part in the sponsored "WALK OF LOVE" in memory of the late President Makarios today, His nameday. Walks will take place in Nicosia and other towns and several rural centres. In Nicosia the Archbishop Chrys??? will officiate at St. John's Cathedral for the mass for St. Makarios.
Large donations are announced for this walk. Chrysostomos donates one thousand pounds and the Cyprus Broadcasting Cooperation GBP2.500 pounds offered for the sponsored Walk. All the money to be collected from the donators and the people partaking in the Walk will be used to assist needy secondary school children, in tribute to Makarios love for letters and his plans to make eduction accessible to all.
In Nicosia President Kyprianou ??? lead the Walk and he will address the crowd before the start. All, people will be at the old ruined presidential Place and after the speech of President they will walk through the back small gate through which Makarios fled and was saved the day of the coup in July, 1974.
Another large crowd is expected to walk from Pedhoulas village to Kykko Monastery and reach Makarios gave, a distance of several miles. The walk in Nicosia is 12 miles.
