"The whole of the Welsh section of this crowd calling heave, heave as the scrum packs. But a good heel there for Fisher the ball skirting around it's a nasty one, but a pickup by Phil Bennett across comes Irvine, almost a try for Wales there. And it's been given. Brilliant stop there by Fisher .. played on by MacLaughlin, into the Welsh twenty-five .. half stopped by Biggar. Out to MacGeechan along the line to MacHaig, can Irvine get to the line? The referee has not yet made up his mind but he's now given the try. The Welsh forwards in a great red mass once again. Back to Edwards onto the Bennett onto Gravell a beautiful run there. Gerald Davies with John Williams helping. This is Trevor Evans and Trevor Evans does what he did against the Scots last year. That's John williams .. working as a mauling forward fed out again from Windsor. This is Edwards .. Edwards over the line .. from Bennett again. And here's Phil Bennett with his chance of another record ... (cheering)."

Background: Halves Gareth Edwards and Phil Bennett entered the Welsh scoring record books on Saturday (7 February) as Wales took another step towards achieving rugby union's triple crown by trouncing Scotland 28-6.

The Cardiff Arms Park crowd gave half-back Edwards a standing ovation when he equalled the Welsh record for try scoring with a brilliant solo try late in the second half. It was his 17th try for his country.

Bennett scored 13 points in the match to become the top points scorer in Wales International rugby .. beating Barry John's previous record of 90 by two points.

Wales have now beaten both England and Scotland and need only to defeat a weak Irish side to take the coveted triple crown.

Their clash with France will determine who wins the Five Nations Championships as France has already beaten Scotland and Ireland.

SYNOPSIS: Wales took another step towards rugby's triple crown by crushing Scotland 28-6 in their match at Cardiff Arms Park on Saturday.
