Background: President William Tubman of Liberia, on a private visit to Belgium, was the guest of King Baudouin and Queen Fabiola at the Royal Palace in Brussels today ( July 8).
The King and Queen of Belgium had only hours before their meeting with the Liberian leader returned from a 20-day African tour which took them on official visits to the former belgian Territories of Congo-Kinshasa, Rwanda and Burundi.
The 74-year-old Liberian President was in the Belgian capital as his visit neared its end. As well as meeting the King and Queen of the Belgians, he was also contacting Common Market officials on the possibility of closer links between Liberia and the European Economic Community.
President Tubman is scheduled to leave belgium tomorrow (July 9). He is due back in Monrovia towards the end of July.
