    PRESIDENT MOBUTU EXPLAINED THAT HE HAD CALLED THE MASS MEETING TO "END THE PEOPLE'S CONFUSION AND ILLUSIONS".

    HE SAID THE HAD REDUCED TO NIL THE BUDGET DEFICIT OF 29,000 MILLION OLD CONGOLESE FRANCE (ABOUT 76.8 MILLION STERLING) WHICH HIS GOVERNMENT INHERITED WHEN HE DEPOSED PRESIDENT JOSEPH KASAVUBU IN NOVEMBER, 1965
    PEOPLE GATHERED IN THE STADIUM SANG THE NATIONAL ANTHEM. WOMEN MEMBERS OF THE POPULAR MOVEMENT UP THE REVOLUTION (MPR) WELCOMED THE PRESIDENT AND THANKED HIM FOR INTEGRATING WOMEN IN THE LIFE OF THE NATION.
