Background: Former Leeds and England football team manager Don Revie is settling into his new job in Dubai that will earn him a reported GBP340,000 (US Dollars 585,000) over the next four years. Revie will manage the United Arab Emirates team as well as establishing a football administrative body.

Work going on in the UAE also includes one ground that will have GBP7,000,000 (12,000,000 U.S. dollars) spent on developing stands and facilities and work will soon start on a national stadium costing GBP25,000,000 (43,000,000 U.S. dollars).

SYNOPSIS: From September this year, Dubai will be home for Don Revie and his family, but any difficulties that might arise in adjusting to the heat and humidity should be more than balanced by Revie's almost unbelievable contract. Revie has agreed to manage the UAE team for four year at GBP60,00 a year (103,000 US Dollars) plus a further GBP100,000 (172,000 US Dollars in bonuses. All tax free.

In the last few years, the UAE's oil-based economy has allowed it to develop and modernise its cities. Dubai, as its capital, has prospered greatly.

The Arabs have spared no expense in luring the former England manager away, and it caps a remarkable career: 1955 Footballers of the year, 1964 and Revie had pushed the English club, Leeds, back into first division and by 1975, England manager.

Although Revie will have hard task ahead expense seems to be no object. The Al Nasr club is building a new stadium. It like many other grounds is undergoing rapid modernisation.

Last season the Al Nasr Club was managed by Pat Seaward another Englishman, formerly of Brighton.

Another ground under construction belongs to the El Ahli Club. Although it's now cluttered with various building materials and still without a playing surface, the El Ahli ground should be completed soon.

At the nearby Sharjah Emirate, the Shaab Club is already laying grass for its new pitch. Unlike other clubs the Shaab will have a natural playing surface. But of the 12 first division clubs, in the Emirates, seven have ordered artificial turf pitched each coasting GBP300,000 (515,000 US dollars).
