    WORKMEN AT A MACHINERY DEPOT IN ABU-GOSH, WEST OF JERUSALEM, WERE YESTERDAY (TUESDAY) REPAIRING THE DAMAGE CAUSED IN A RAID ON SATURDAY. DURING THE RAID, ALLEGED TO HAVE BEEN THE WORK OF THE ARAB EL-FATAH ORGANISATION, A WATCHMAN WAS STRANGLED TO DEATH AND EXPLOSIVES WERE SET OFF UNDER TRACTORS.

    ISRAELI SECURITY FORCES SAID ON MONDAY THAT THEY HAD SMASHED THE EL-FATAH NETWORK IN THE AREA, FOLLOWING THE ARREST OF TWO KEY COMMANDERS OF THE ORGANISATION. THE TWO MEN WERE SUSPECTED OF COMPLICITY IN THE ABU-GOSH RAID. THEIR CAPTURE WAS SAID TO HAVE LED TO THE DISCOVERY OF LARGE QUANTITIES OF HIDDEN ARMS AND AMMUNITION.

    IN ONE OF THE ARMS CACHES, ISRAELI FORCES WERE REPORTED TO HAVE FOUND TWO CHINESE MADE MACHINE GUNS. 18 SUSPECTS WERE ROUNDED UP BY THE SECURITY FORCES.

    IN LYDAA, YESTERDAY (TUESDAY) EIGHT ARABS RECEIVED SENTENCES RANGING FROM FIVE AND EIGHT YEARS JAIL AFTER BEING CONVICTED ON CHARGES OF MEMBERSHIP OF THE EL-FATAH ORGANISATION, CARRYING FIREARMS AND OTHER CHARGES.
