This U.S. Secretary of State, Dr. Henry Kissinger had a third round of talks with Egyptian President Anwar Sadat on Thursday (10 May) in his current Middle East peace shuttle.
The talks took place at president Sadat's villa beside the River Nile. Dr. Kissinger was reported to have asked President Sadat's help in difficult negotiations on Syrian-Israeli engagement. He'd arrived in Cairo from Riyadh, Saudi Arabian, and was due to leave for Israel a few hours after his talks with the Egyptian leader.
Neither man made any comment about their talks after the meeting. Al Ahram, Egypt's main daily newspaper, reported that Dr. Kissinger had asked president Sadat to "take part through his contacts" ion removing obstacles to agreement on the separation of Syrian and israeli forces on the Golan Heights.
While Dr. Kissinger tried to pull off another diplomatic success, his wife, Nancy, was doing some sightseeing. Accompanied by a large group of women, she visited the Great Pyramid and the Sphinx. Mrs. Kissinger was a also treated to a performance of dancing horses near the Sphinx, before re-joining her husband for the return to Israel.
