    AN INTERNATIONAL CHESS COMPETITION IS BEING HELD AT WEYMOUTH, IN SOUTHERN ENGLAND - FOR BLIND PEOPLE. IT'S THE THIRD OLYMPIAD OF THE INTERNATIONAL BRAILLE CHESS ASSOCIATION, HELD EVERY FOUR YEARS, OF WHICH YUGOSLAVIA WON THE FIRST TWO.

    THE CONTESTANTS HAVE A CHESS BOARD EACH, CALLING OUT EACH MOVE AND RECORDING BOTH THEIR OWN AND THEIR OPPONENT'S MOVES. THE CALLING IS DONE BY THE ALGEBRAIC NOTATION, AND SINCE THERE ARE SO MANY NATIONALITIES TAKING PART THEY USE A SINGLE LANGUAGE - GERMAN.

    THE OLYMPIAD OPENED ON THE 29TH. OF LAST MONTH AND WILL CONTINUE FOR TWO WEEKS.
