Background: The Royal Pavilion in Paris was the scene of an unusual auction Friday (16 June). Twenty-three automobiles of unique character were put on the block. They ranged from a restored 1921 Deluge limousine to a 1965 Ferrari which was the winner of the Twenty-Four Hours of Le Mans Race in that year.

The largest single group of cars were six by the French maker Bugatti; the oldest was a 1927 straight-eight cylinder type 35, the newest was a 1947 single-seat racer that was the last car Bugatti built before his death.

Large crowds turned out to inspect the collection of touring and racing cars. The bidding at the auction was brisk.
