    FRESH FROM HIS ASIAN TOUR AND HIS TRIUMPHAL VISIT TO RUMANIA, PRESIDENT NIXON HAD A TALK WITH BRITISH PRIME MINISTER HAROLD WILSON. THE TWO LEADERS MET AS MR. NIXON'S PRESIDENTIAL AIRCRAFT WAS REFUELLED AT THE U.S. AIR FORCE BASE AT MILDENHALL, 75 MILES (120 KM) NORTH EAST OF LONDON.

    MR. NIXON WAS IN ENGLAND FOR TWO HOURS, AND SPENT 50 MINUTES OF THEM IN COMPLETELY INFORMAL CONVERSATION WITH MR. WILSON IN THE FRONT ROOM OF THE BASE COMMANDER'S QUARTERS.

    BUT FIRST THE PRESIDENT ADDRESSED THE CROWD OF ABOUT 10,000 SPECIALLY-INVITED GUESTS AT THE BASE. HE SAID HE WOULD GIVE NR. WILSON HIS IMPRESSIONS OF HIS ASIAN AND EASTERN EUROPEAN TOUR AND DISCUSS WAYS IN WHICH WORLD PEACE COULD BE STRENGTHENED.

    AN IMPORTANT ASPECTS OF THEIR DISCUSSIONS WAS EXPECTED TO BE THE CHANCES FOR A EUROPEAN SECURITY CONFERENCE AS SOUGHT BY THE WARSAW PACT POWERS, IN THE LIGHT OF MR. NIXON'S TALKS WITH RUMANIA'S PRESIDENT CEAUSESCU.

    MR. NIXON SAID THE MESSAGE FROM ASIA AND EASTERN EUROPE WAS THAT THE PEOPLE OF THE WORLD WANTED PEACE.
