    The destroyer AMSTERDAM of the Dutch Fleet has paid a visit to Istanbul on the 22nd of August, 1958.

    Lt. Cmdr. A. VAN NOORFWIJK has placed a wreath on the Taksim Monument in the morning of 23rd of August. The Commander has mentioned the fact that as a naval student he had once placed a wreath to the same Monument,
    - Ceremony at the Taksim Square
    Turkish, Dutch officers and soldiers during ceremony (The Turkish soldiers are in white, the Dutch in black) After ceremonies the Commander signing in the special Memorandum)
    Same day in the afternoon a group of Turkish naval officers have visited AMSTERDAM. The Commander has personally shown around the ship to the officers and gave them the necessary explanations.

    Succeeding the tour on board the ship, The Turkish/ group commander Lt. GOKENGIN presented to the Commander of AMSTERDAM with the symbol of his ship, to which gesture the Dutch Commander reciprocated with his own, Scene depicting this ceremony. (two commanders and ship is the background).
