Disaster at sea - forty miles southeast of Cape Canso off the eastern coast of Nova Scotia. Seven men die in their attempt to escape from this burning trawler, the Sheila Patricia, after fire broke out in the ship's galley. The six other members of the thirteen-man crew are rescued by the Newfoundland trawler Zebrula, after they elected to stay with the vessel. Four of the crew -- including the captain, Uriah Hillier, drowned attempting to escape in a dory which was launched shortly after the fire broke out..... Three more were found dead in a drifting dory--their deaths as yet unexplained. The one-hundred and four foot trawler, owned by Acadia Fisheries Limited of Mulgrave, Nova Scotia, is now a total loss. The trawler was about forty miles southeast of Mulgrave when a gallary stove exploded, and fire swept through the wheelhouse, the captain's cabin and the engineroom.
