    Riders and horses at the three-day Amsterdam International Indoor Jumping Show, opened Oct 23, found the surface of the arena treacherous at times - particularly on the turns. Competing nations: Britain, France, Germany, Belgium, Ireland, Holland and South Africa. The Show thought it does not rank as a major international event provides a high standard of quality riding.

    In the 1000 guilders event on opening night H.C. Winkler of Germany on the 13 year-old roan, Sonnenglanz and on the 14 year-old brown more Halla with no penalty points in fifty seconds was first. The event-over 350 metres and ten obstacles from 1.20 metres to 1.40 metres - included a double and triple jump. Second was Captain G.Lefrant of France on the 9 year-old brown roan Gypsy and on the 13 year-old roan, Caballero Two, with no penalty points in 52 1/5 seconds. The Irish rider Seames Hayes crashed at one of the turns on the 6 year-old roan Kilbrack. He was able to remount.

    Pat Smythe of Britain on the brown roan Grand Manan in this event won no top placing but next day on the same roan took second place in the Ritmeester prize event.
