ALAMIR: "In the (indistinct) in the relations between Iran and the United States I do believe there are three distinct points. The first point, the seizure of the hostages in the Teheran embassy which is contrary to the international (indistinct) and pacts.

We are against it. On the other hand the ex Shah of Iran is a criminal. He has killed more than 60-thousand people during his 25-years of reign, and has taken away from the country illegally billions of dollars. This wealth together with the wealth of his family gathered in the same way should be given back to the country and as an international criminal he should be judged. There's no difference between a man like the Shah and a man like Hitler. And therefore I do believe that the seizure of Iranian assets in the American banks will not help the image of the United States throughout the world. Iran decided to take back her funds from the Chase Manhattan Bank because the Foreign Minister of the Ayatollah Khomeini's regime said the Chase Manhattan Bank had paid royalties to the Shah. This is of course illegal (indistinct). We do hope that the present situation does not worsen and that a crisis does not end in a confrontation, an armed confrontation. But anyhow at this present moment we do believe that all Iranians, the people who are for Khomeini or against him are united in what Iran asks as justice.

Background: Iranian students living in France have demonstrated their support for the occupation of the American Embassy in Teheran. About fifty of them have started a sit-in at the Iranian Embassy in Paris. They moved in on Thursday evening (15 November) saying they intended to stay put for at least five days.

SYNOPSIS: It was a peaceful demonstration. Armed with banners and portraits of Ayatollah Khomeini the students simply walked in and sat down in the embassy corridors.

A spokesman for the embassy said they hadn't caused any trouble and wouldn't be expelled. But as the students began their sit in, Djavad Alamir, editor of Iran's leftist opposition newspaper, 'Nameh Rouge' spoke against the events in Teheran.
