Background: QUEEN ELIZABETH ATTENDED THE ROYAL COMMAND VARIETY PERFORMANCE AT LONDON'S PALLADIUM THEATRE LAST NIGHT. SHE ARRIVED AT THE THEATRE ALONE, AFTER STRONG HEADWINDS HAD DELAYED THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH ON HIS FLIGHT FROM CANADA.

BEFORE THE START OF THE PERFORMANCE, QUEEN ELIZABETH MET THE STARS OF THE SHOW. THEY WERE DRAWN FROM THROUGHOUT THE ENTERTAINMENT WORLD, AND INCLUDED BOB HOPE, VAL DOONIGAN, TOM JONES, KEN DODD, MIRIELLE MATHIEU AND VICKI CARR.

THE DUKE OF EDINBURGH EVENTUALLY ARRIVED IN TIME TO SEE THE SHOW.
