  • Description

Brazil's Foreign Minister, Mario Gibson Barboza, arrived in the Ivory Coast on Wednesday (25 October) to begin a five-day official visit during which he was to have talks with various members of the Government.

Abidjan, the Ivory Coast capital, was the first stop in an eight-country African tour during which he'll visit Ghana, Togo, Dahomey, Cameroun, Zaire, Senegal and Nigeria.

The Brazilian Foreign Minister faced a heavy first-day agenda in Abidjan. After having been received by the Ivory Coast President Houphouet-Boigny, Mr Barboza was guest at an official Government dinner at which he was invested with the country's award of "Grand Officer of the National Ivory Order."
At a news conference in Abidjan, Mr Barboza said he had started his African tour there because of the privileged relations that existed between his country and the Ivory Coast.
