    THE 15TH WEST BERLIN FILM FESTIVAL ENDED ON TUESDAY NIGHT WITH THE PRESENTATION OF THE GOLDEN AND SILVER BEAR AWARDS FOR THE WINNING FILMS.

    THE TOP AWARD - THE GOLDEN BEAR - WENT TO JEAN-LUC GODARD'S FRENCH FILM "ALPHAVILLE". M. GODARD RECEIVED THE AWARD AT THE CLOSING CEREMONY.

    ANOTHER GOLDEN BEAR, THIS TIME FOR THE BEST SHORT FILM, WENT TO IRELAND FOR "YEATS COUNTRY".

    THE INTERNATIONAL JURY AWARDED TWO SPECIAL SILVER BEARS. ONE WENT TO THE FRENCH FILM "LE BONHEUR" THE AWARD WAS RECEIVED BY THE DIRECTOR, MADAME AGNES VARDA. THE OTHER SPECIAL AWARD WENT TO BRITAIN'S "REPULSION". THE AWARD WAS ACCEPTED BY MICHAEL KLINGER, WHO REPRESENTED THE PRODUCING COMPANY.

    A SILVER BEAR FOR THE BEST DIRECTOR WENT TO INDIA'S SATYAJIT RAY FOR HIS FILM "CHARULATA" (LONELY WOMAN).
