  • Description

About 150 supporters of the Progressive Labour Party demonstrated in New York on Monday (21 February) over President Nixon's current trip to the People's Republic of China.

They were led by the Reverend Carl McIntire -- a fundamentalist radio preacher and advocate of military victory n Vietnam -- who led several Washington rallies last year in support of his Southeast Asia ideals.

Although Maoist in its leanings, the Progressive Labour Party has recently become disenchanted with the Chinese Government. Demonstrators carried banners and shouted slogans saying that President Nixon should never have visited China until American prisoners of war in North Vietnam had been released.
