Background: Units of the Norwegian forces were Sunday May 10 engaged on a peaceful pursuit - to save life and property. They were laying explosives in the BODO Glacier outflow.
In a normal spring the waters of this glacier flow slowly away through pipe-lines as the ice melts, but this year the warm spring has caused the glacier known as Sverteisen to melt rapidly. Its waters have therefore been diverted by explosions to flow down safe culverts in the mountainside - preventing a recurrence of the flood disaster of a few days ago which killed two at ??? and inundated many lowland farms.
