    THERE WAS A SPECIAL CHURCH SERVICE IN ACCRA ON SATURDAY (30 SEPTEMBER) TO MARK THE START OF THE NEW LEGAL YEAR.

    LEADING MEMBERS OF THE BENCH AND BAR WERE AT THE CATHEDRAL CHURCH OF THE MOST HOLY TRINITY IN THE GHANAIAN CAPITAL FOR THE SERVICE, CONDUCTED BY THE ASSISTANT BISHOP OF ACCRA, THE REVEREND A.K. NELSON.

    THE CHIEF JUSTICE, MR. JUSTICE E. AKUFFO ADDO LED A PROCESSION OF STAFF FROM THE SUPREME COURT BUILDINGS INTO THE CATHEDRAL, WHERE THE GHANA POLICE BAND HERALDED THEM WITH A FANFARE.

    THE FIRST LESSON WAS READ BY THE DIRECTOR OF PUBLIC PROSECUTIONS, MR. J. TAYLOR. THEN MR. JUSTICE ADDO READ THE SECOND LESSON.

    THE SERMON WAS DELIVERED BY THE REVEREND T. WALLACE KOOMSON, PRESIDENT OF THE METHODIST CHURCH OF GHANA. HE TOLD HIS CONGREGATION THAT MANY PEOPLE WERE CONCERNED WITH THE QUESTION OF A CONSTITUTION FOR GHANA. BUT THE ADDED THAT ALTHOUGH A GOOD CONSTITUTION MIGHT BE PRODUCED, ITS EFFECTIVENESS WOULD DEPEND ON THE PEOPLE WHO ENSURED ITS JUST WORKING.
