Addressing a crowd of 200,000 in New Delhi, November 1, India's Prime Minister, Mr. Nehru, said that China's armed attacks on India's frontier were a challenge to the nation. "We will defend our borders with all the strength at our command", said, Mr. Nehru.
He appealed for national unity and said that all consideration of party politics must end. He condemned the suggestion that foreign aid should be sought to help defend India - "I will not invite one danger to repel another", said the Prime Minister, and added that India would doubt that India would be able to defend her integrity if the Chinese invaded the country was utterly uncalled for.
The Indian Government is expected shortly to send a strong note of protest to China, replying to a recent Chinese note, which threatened that China would not hesitate to enter the North-east Frontier Agency south of the McMahon Line if India continued alleged" intrusions into Chines territory in Ladakh."
