Background: The Moroccan Foreign Minister, Ahmed Taibi Benhima paid an official visit to Mauritania between September 18th and 20th.
He carried a special message from King Hassan to President Moktar Ould Daddah.
He met both the President and the Mauritanian Foreign Minister, M. Hamdi Ould Moukness, and a joint communique issued later said they had discussed matters of African and international interest. They had agreed to step up mutual cooperation and said they would press hard for the rapid decolonisation of the Spanish Sahara.
