    ON THE LAST FULL DAY OF THEIR EIGHT-DAY STATE VISIT TO MALAYA, KING BHUMIBOL AND QUEEN SIRIKIT OF THAILAND VISITED A TIN MINE AND PARTICIPATED IN THE CONSECRATION OF BUDDHIST TEMPLE, ON JUNE 26.

    IN THE MORNING THEIR MAJESTIES DROVE SEVEN MILES FROM THE CITY TO SEE A GIANT DREDGE AT A TIN MINE OF PETALING TIN LTD. THEY WERE MET AT THE MINE BY THE GENERAL MANAGER OF THE PETALING TIN LTD. MR. P.J. BURKE AND THE CHIEF MINISTER OF SELANGOR STATE.

    MALAYA IS ONE OF THE LEADING TIN PRODUCING COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD AND ITS ECONOMY IS BASED ON EXPORT OF TIM AND RUBBER.

    IN THE EVENING, AT THE NEW SATELLITE TOWN OF PETALING JAYA ON THE OUTSKIRTS OF KUALA LUMPUR, THE KING PRESIDED OVER THE CONSECRATION CEREMONY OF THE WAT CHETAWAN. HIS MAJESTY HIMSELF CONTRIBUTED DONATIONS TOWARDS THIS TEMPLE.

    THE KING AND QUEEN WERE RECEIVED AT THE TEMPLE, AMONG OTHERS, BY HIS EXCELLENCY PHYA MANAVARAJ SEVI, CHAIRMAN OF THE WAT CHETAWAN, WHO CAME FROM BANGKOK SPECIALLY FOR THE CEREMONY.

    THEIR MAJESTIES WERE GIVEN GIFTS BY REPRESENTATIVES OF LOCAL COMMITTEES, AFTER THE CEREMONY.

    THE PREVIOUS DAY, THE KING AND QUEEN ENDED THEIR TWO-DAY TOUR OF PENANG BY VISITING WAT CHAIYA MANGALARAM, THE OLDEST THAI BUDDHIST TEMPLE IN PENANG, THEY TOOK PART IN THE CEREMONY OF THE "OPENING THE EYES" OF THE 180-FT RECLINING BUDDHA AT THE TEMPLE. THE QUEEN ALSO ADDRESSED THE PEOPLE.

    THEIR MAJESTIES WILL LEAVE MALAYA ON JUNE 27 TO BANGKOK.
