    THE INDIAN NAVY SHIP "TALWAR" BERTHED AT TEMA HARBOUR ON MONDAY (FEBRUARY 26) TO BEGIN A 10-DAY OFFICIAL VISIT TO GHANA. SOON AFTER THE VESSEL'S ARRIVAL THERE BEGAN A SERIES OF ENGAGEMENTS FOR THE CAPTAIN AND CREW.

    THE CAPTAIN OF THE 2,144-TON INDIAN VESSEL - COMMANDER O.S. DAWSON - WAS GREETED INITIALLY BY COMMANDER MARRIOT OF THE GHANA NAVAL BASE AT TEMA. THEN THE COMMANDER WAS DRIVEN TO ACCRA WHERE HE WAS RECEIVED BY THE CHAIRMAN OF THE NATIONAL LIBERATION COUNCIL, LIEUTENANT-GENERAL JOSEPH ANKRAH, AT THE CASTLE, OSU. ALSO PRESENT WERE THE INDIAN HIGH COMMISSIONER IN GHANA, MR PATEL, AND THE LIASON OFFICER FOR THE VISIT, LIEUTENANT OHENE KWAPONG.

    COMMANDER DAWSON LATER MET SENIOR OFFICERS OF THE GHANAIAN NAVY AND THEN WENT ON TO THE OFFICES OF THE GREATER ACCRA REGION COMMITTEE OF ADMINISTRATION WHERE HE MET THE CHAIRMAN, MR SMITH, AND OTHER OFFICIALS.

    LATER, ABOARD THE "TALWAR", COMMANDER DAWSON RECEIVED MANY DISTINGUISHED GUESTS. THESE INCLUDED THE COMMANDER OF THE GHANA ARMY, MAJOR-GENERAL A.K. OCRAN; THE VICE-CHAIRMAN OF THE NATIONAL LIBERATION COUNCIL, MR J.W.K. HARLLEY, WHO IS INSPECTOR-GENERAL OF POLICE, AND THE ACTING COMMANDER OF THE GHANA NAVY, AIR VICE-MARSHAL OTU, WHO INSPECTED A GUARD OF NAVAL RATINGS ON THE INDIAN VESSEL.
