    Background: On the third day of his 20-day tour of South Africa, the Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr. Michael Ramsey, yesterday (Sunday) preached a sermon to 20,000 people gathered in a Cape Town football stadium - one of the largest multiracial crowds ever seen in South Africa.

    The capacity crowd filling the stadium watched 23 bishops from all parts of South Africa, Lesotho and Swaziland lead Dr. Ramsey in a colourful procession to the specially-erected dias on the field.

    The Primate of All England, who first heard lessons read in English, Afrikaans and Xhosa ( one of the African tongues), spoke for 15 minutes, during which he said:
