Argentina scored a comfortable two-nil victory over Switzerland in a friendly international soccer match in Berne on September 1. The game ended a run of five international matches without a goal for the Argentine side, who found the net twice in the first half. Their first opportunity came in the sixth minute, when Jose Ponce receive a pass from Marcelo Trobbiano and finished off with a simple goal. Later in the first half, Oscar Dertycia added the second goal when an unforced error by the Swiss defence allowed him to take the ball and defeat keeper Karl Engel from close range. The result, before a home crowd of eight thousand, was a disappointment for Switzerland. They have failed to score in their last three matches, and are due to play Norway in a World Cup qualifying match in eleven days' time.
