    ON THE NIGHT OF 10 APRIL, MAJOR GENERAL WALKER WAS SITTING IN THE STUDY OF HIS HOME IN DALLAS. SOMEONE FIRED A SHOT AT HIM, NARROWLY MISSING HIS HEAD AND BURIED ITSELF IN THE WALL. LEE OSWALD -- THE ALLEGED ASSASSIN OF PRESIDENT KENNEDY - IS REPORTED TO HAVE TOLD HIS WIFE MARINA THAT HE ATTEMPTED TO SHOOT WALKER.

    WALKER RESIGNED FROM THE US ARMY AFTER BEING RELIEVED OF COMMAND OF TROOPS IN GERMANY. HE WAS RELIEVED FOR INDOCTRINATING THEM WITH EXTREME RIGHTIST POLITICAL VIEWS.
