    Speaking at a Conservative Party rally, in Halifax this evening, in the acute unemployment between the two world wars, the Prime Minister, Mr. Harold MacMillan, declared that as far as lies in human power, he was determined never to allow that shadow to fall on Britain again. He stated that the country must follow a middle course between inflation and deflation, and that so long as wage settlements were reasonable the prospects of price stability would be better than they had been in the past.

    He mean went on to survey the economic position, pointing out the improved gold and dollar reserves and the narrowing trade gap. But the most important statement he made was with regard to the Note sent to the Soviet Government on Summit talks. He gave the following details to the meeting...
