    THE SECOND FAR EAST REGIONAL SCOUT CONFERENCE OPENED IN RANGOON THE CAPITAL OF BURMA ON OCTOBER 31.

    ALL TOLD SEVENTY DELEGATES ATTENDED THE CONFERENCE AND THEY CAME SIXTEEN COUNTRIES.

    THE PRESIDENT OF BURMA U NU WAS INVITED TO ATTEND AND AFTER AN OFFICIAL RECEPTION HE LED THE DELEGATES INTO THE CONFERENCE ROOM AT RANGOON UNIVERSITY.

    THERE DELEGATES WERE WELCOMED BY THE CHAIRMAN OF THE SECOND FAR EAST REGION U BA HTAY.

    HE TOLD DELEGATES THEY'D HEAR REPORTS ON SCOUTING OPERATIONS IN SOUTH EAST ASIA...A REPORT ON THE DUTIES OF AN INTERNATIONAL COMMISSIONER AND A REPORT ON FINANCE.

    HE SAID DELEGATES LATER WOULD DISCUSS ESSENTIAL TASKS AND TARGETS AND FUTURE EVENTS IN ASIA.

    AFTER THE FLAGS OF THE SIXTEEN COUNTRIES AT THE CONFERENCE HAD BEEN UNFURLED U NU ADDRESSED THE DELEGATES.

    HE STRESSED THE IMPORTANCE OF THE SCOUTING MOVEMENT AND TOLD DELEGATES IT COULD PLAY AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN SOUTH EAST ASIA.

    THE CONFERENCE WILL END ON NOVEMBER FIVE, WHEN U NU WILL LAY THE FOUNDATION STONE OF THE BOY SCOUTS HEADQUARTERS IN RANGOON.
