When President de Gaulle arrives in London on his four-day State Visit, Apr 5, he will see a much brighter city than most Londoners know. Workmen are at present busy erecting the flags of both countries and plaques along the Mall. Here stands have been built.

On the night the French President arrives, there will be a display of fireworks in St James's Park - the first celebrations held there since 1814, at the end of the Napoleonic Wars. Over a hundred star shells will be fired, interspersed with Roman candles and various other type of pyrotechnic illuminations.

After the display President and Madame de Gaulle, will drive to Buckingham Palace, to attend a State banquet.

An announcement from the Ministry of Works stated that all government buildings in Whitehall will be decorated with flags, including Horse Guards Parade and Admiralty Arch.

In company with the Duke of Edinburgh, the President will review the Household Troops on Horse Guards Parade, Apr 7. Troopers of the Household Cavalry, who will provide a Captains Escort for the visitor, are now hard to work rehearsing for the parade.

Before he returns to Paris, President de Gaulle will address members of both Houses of Parliament.
