Background: Stars of stage and screen were slightly overshadowed on arrival for the premiere of the film 'Operation Amsterdam' at London's Leicester Square Theatre Jan 13.
High fashion and those magical stones, Diamonds, made this one of the most glittering affairs. Six of Holland's top models, specially flown to London to present a collection of furs, dresses and hats at a fashion show in Park Lane, attended the premiere. Diamonds, being the theme of the film, were the order of the evening. Guests had the chance of owning one themselves by delving into a 'lucky dip' barrel containing a thousands paste diamonds and three genuine stones.
Stars of the films are Eva Bartok and Australian Peter Finch. It tells the story of three men sent to Amsterdam from this country during the occupation, to snatch GBP10,000,000 of diamonds from the Germans during World War II.
