    Leaders of a Black Panther demonstration in Jerusalem on Monday (19 April) called for recognition in Israel. About 200 people attended the peaceful demonstration. They called on the people of Israel to join the movement and said they were campaigning for "a better Israel."
    At the end of the meeting, the crowd, the crowd marched down one of Jerusalem's main thoroughfares to Zion Square--the heart of Jerusalem's business quarter--where heavy traffic broke up the demonstration.

    SYNOPSIS: In Jerusalem on Monday, leaders of a Black Panther demonstration called for recognition of their organization in Israel. The peaceful demonstration was attended by about two hundred people who appealed to onlookers to join the movement which, they claim, campaigns for a better Israel for everyone.

    The speakers condemned the government for this attitude towards their movement and attacked the police for their handling of small pockets of violence which had broken out during other demonstrations. The crowd then marched off down one of Jerusalem's main streets to the business centre, where traffic broke up the procession.
