    THE MOVE TOUCHED OFF A NOISY DEMONSTRATION AT WEST END HIGH SCHOOL, ONE OF THREE BIRMINGHAM SCHOOLS WHICH ADMITTED NEGROES. HUNDREDS OF STUDENTS BOYCOTTED THE SCHOOL AND MANY JOINED A DEMONSTRATION OUTSIDE LED BY MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL STATES RIGHTS PARTY -- A SEGREGATIONIST GROUP.

    THE DEMONSTRATION STARTED AFTER TWO NEGRO GIRLS ENTERED THE SCHOOL. AN ANGRY CROWD GATHERED OUTSIDE SHOUTING: "TWO, FOUR, SIX, EIGHT, WE DON'T WANT TO INTEGRATE." THE POLICE SENT FOR REINFORCEMENTS TO CONTROL THE CROWD. ONE MAN WAS ARRESTED.
