    Recent political developments in Africa, including the effects of the Portuguese coup, were discussed by Britain's Under Secretary with special responsibility for African Affairs, Miss. Joan Lestor, and the Kenyan Foreign Ministers, Doctor Njoroge Mungai, in Nairobi on Friday (24 May).

    In an hour-long discussion Miss. Lestor and Doctor Mungai exchanged views on developments in South Africa, Rhodesia and the Portuguese territories. Miss. Lestor also raised the question of Kenyan's boycott of British sports teams following the visit of the British Lions rugby team to South Africa.

    Later Miss. Lestor had a half-hour meeting with Kenya's Vice-President, Daniel Arap Moi.

    Miss. Lestor will leave for Zambia on Monday (27 May).

    SYNOPSIS: Later Miss. Lestor had a half-hour discussion with Kenya's Vice-President, Daniel Arap Moi, but there was no indication by either party of what was discussed. Afterwards Miss. Lestor, commenting on the latest developments in Portugal's African territories, said she was very pleased with progress so far. She hoped the promises by the new Portuguese government would be put into action and that the territories would soon be independent.
