SYNOPSIS: The Foreign Minister of South Yemen, Mr Mohammed Salah Alauki, met Polish Prime Minister Piotr Jaroszewicz in Warsaw on Friday. Mr Alauki had arrived in Poland earlier in the week at the invitation of the Polish Government.

No official communique was released after the talks, although it was stated that Mr Alauki and Mr Jarszewicz had discussed relations between their two countries, and several international issues. South Yemen receives substantial aid programmes from the Soviet Union East Germany and the People's Republic of China -- aid programmes given in an attempt to case the country's economic difficulties which have been experienced since Britain granted the territory independence in 1967. South Yemen's allies are nearly all Communist countries, with the exception of other Arab countries, and each of them contributed towards the strategic state's economy following the closure of the Suez canal in 1967.
