Background: The Yang di-Pertuan Agung or King, of Malaysia drove to Kuala Lumpur's Subang Airport on Monday (5 March) to welcome President Giri of India who arriving for a five-day official visit.
President giri, who will be meeting with Malaysian leaders for discussions on bi-lateral cooperation during his visit, had flown from Delhi.
An honour guard was lined up on the tarmac and the Indian President was invited to inspect it before leaving by car for the capital.
Observers say the two countries will be increasing their cultural ties following President Giri's visit. No details of economic aid programme discussions have been made available, but it is believed Malaysia will be asked to contribute more assistance to India in the future.
