    ARCHBISHOP MAKARIOS, THE PRESIDENT OF CYPRUS HAD MORE TALKS YESTERDAY (TUESDAY) WITH THE FORMER EOKA LEADER, GENERAL GEORGE GRIVAS. THE MEETING TOOK PLACE IN ATHENS, ALSO ATTENDING THE TALKS WERE THE CYPRUS FOREIGN MINISTER, MR. KYPRIANOU AND THE MINISTER FOR THE INTERIOR, MR. GEORGHADJIS.

    PRESIDENT MAKAROIS SAID IN ATHENS THIS MORNING (WEDNESDAY) THAT THERE WAS "NO QUESTION" OF GENERAL GRIVAS GOING TO CYPRUS. THE PRESIDENT TOLD A NEWS CONFERENCE: "FROM THE TALKS I HAVE HAD WITH GENERAL GRIVAS, I HAVE THE IMPRESSION THAT HE DOES NOT CONSIDER IT OPPORTUNE TO GO TO CYPRUS -- PROBABLY BECAUSE THE SITUATION IS NOT SERIOUS". HOWEVER, HE WENT ON TO SAY THAT HIS MEETINGS WITH THE FORMER EOKA LEADER HAD BEEN "VERY CONSTRUCTIVE" AND ADDED: "I HOPE THAT THIS WILL BE THE BEGINNING OF A MORE FRUITFUL COOPERATION".
