Referring to reports of an alleged Portuguese air attack over Tanzania's southern frontier on Friday Mr Kinkasa said Zambia supported "the gallant people of Tanzania for their refusal to bow down to Portuguese aggression."
The Chairman of the decolonisation committee, Mr Salim A. Salim, also referred to the report - saying Portugal had launched a "criminal attack".

The chairman said that a visit by a United Nations team into Guinea-Bissau had shown that the collapse of Portuguese rule there was inevitable.

The United Nations committee is on an African tour, taking evidence from representatives of African Liberation movements.
