Operation Sedan, the U.S.Atomic Energy Commission project to use atomic energy for peaceful purposes.

The film has slow motion and black and white print of explosion last July in the Nevada desert where a huge crater was dug in the ground, 325 feet deep and 1300 feet in diameter. The purpose of the explosion was to show that atomic energy can be used to dig craters, excavate harbours.

The explosion was a so-called "clean" explosion.Ninety percent of the radioactivity from the explosion was trapped underground.A building one mile from the explosion site would have suffered only minor damage.

An AEC official said Tuesday that atomic energy could be employed profitably for peaceful uses within two years.
