    PRESIDENT LEOPOLD SEDAR SENGHOR OF SENEGAL AND HIS WIFE ENDED A THREE-DAY STATE VISIT TO THE NETHERLANDS ON THURSDAY (24 OCTOBER).

    DURING THE DAY THEY VISITED THE INTERNATIONAL COURT OF JUSTICE WHERE THEY WERE RECEIVED BY THE PRESIDENT, PROFESSOR MANFRED LACHS OF POLAND, AND MEMBERS OF THE 15-STRONG COURT.

    PROFESSOR LACHS PRAISED PRESIDENT SENGHOR FOR HIS WORK FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION AND IN THE CAUSE OF PEACE -- AND THE PRESIDENT SAID THE WORLD COURT HAD A GREAT TASK IN PROMOTING THE RULE OF LAW BETWEEN NATIONS.

    LATER IN THE DAY PRESIDENT AND HIS WIFE WERE GUESTS OF HONOUR AT A LUNCHEON GIVEN BY THE DUTCH CABINET.

    IT WAS ALSO ANNOUNCED THAT THE DUTCH GOVERNMENT INTENDS TO BUDGET A SUM OF 294 MILLION GUILDERS (ABOUT 50 MILLION STERLING) FOR TECHNICAL AID PROJECTS IN SENEGAL.
