    A FORCE OF MORE THAN 200 ALABAMA STATE TROOPERS ACTING UNDER THE ORDERS OF GOVERNOR GEORGE WALLACE, TURNED STUDENTS AND TEACHERS AWAY FROM A PUBLIC SCHOOL IN TUSKEGEE, ALABAMA ON TUESDAY.

    GOVERNOR WALLACE HAD ISSUED AN ORDER POSTPONING THE START OF THE FALL TERM AT THE SCHOOL UNTIL NEXT MONDAY (9 SEPTEMBER).THE SCHOOL WAS CLOSED SHORTLY BEFORE 13 NEGROES WERE SCHEDULED TO ENROLL IN THE ALL-WHITE SCHOOL.THE GOVERNOR SAID HE ORDERED THE POSTPONEMENT BECAUSE OF THE THREAT OF VIOLENCE.

    THE STATE TROOPERS HAVE TURNED AWAY TEACHERS, TELLING THEM, "WE ARE UNDER ORDERS NOT TO LET ANYONE INTO THIS BUILDING."
    THE TUSKEGEE SCHOOL BOARD HAD INDICATED IT WAS WILLING TO OBEY A FEDERAL COURT ORDER TO DESEGREGATE THE SCHOOL.
