    ANGLO-FRENCH COOPERATION IN THE CONCORDE SUPERSONIC AIRLINER VENTURE WAS HIGHLIGHTED TODAY (MONDAY) WHEN THE MAYOR OF THE ENGLISH CITY OF BRISTOL, MR. CYRIL HEBBLETHWAITE VISITED THE SUD AVIATION COMPANY'S HEADQUARTERS AT TOULOUSE.

    IT IS AT TOULOUSE THAT THE FIRST PROTOTYPE OF THE AIRCRAFT IS TAKING SHAPE. THE SECOND PROTOTYPE IS BEING BUILT BY THE BRITISH AIRCRAFT CORPORATION AT BRISTOL.

    THE FRENCH PROTOTYPE, 001, IS SCHEDULED TO MAKE ITS FIRST TEST FLIGHT EARLY IN 1968. CONCORDE AIRCRAFT ARE EXPECTED TO BE IN REGULAR SERVICE BY 1971. THE PROTOTYPE BEING BUILT IN BRISTOL IS DUE TO TAKE THE AIR A YEAR LATER.

    THE AIRCRAFT WILL HAVE A TOP SPEED OF 1,500 MILES AN HOUR (2,400 K.M.). THE DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME IS COSTING MORE THAN GBP400-MILLION STERLING.

    DURING HIS VISIT TO THE PLANT MR. HEBBLETHWAITE ALSO INSPECTED A SIMULATOR, BEING USED TO FAMILIARISE ENGINEERS AND FLIERS WITH THE INSTRUMENTS THAT WILL BE INCORPORATED IN THE CONCORDE.

    SOME PARTS OF THE AIRCRAFT ARE BEING MANUFACTURED IN EACH COUNTRY AND SHIPPED TO THE FACTORIES IN FRANCE AND BRITAIN FOR THE PROTOTYPES UNDER CONSTRUCTION.
