    The Yugoslavian Vice President, Mr Vidoje Zarkovic, told Tanzanians in Dar es Salaam on Monday (1 August) that developing and non-aligned countries should cooperate and work together to bring about changes in the world's economy. Mr Zarkovic is in Tanzania on an official three day visit.

    SYNOPSIS: After talks with Tanzanian President Julius Nyerere on problems of Southern Africa and the situation in Ethiopia and Somalia, its been pretty much a meet the people tour for the Yugoslav Vice-President. Mr Zarkovic paid a visit to a small village on the outskirts of the Tanzanian capita, where he had lunch with local officials. And then after a tour of the University of Dar es Salaam he accompanied the Tanzanian Vice-President Mr Ndugu Jumbe to open the country's first International Trade Fair.

    Mr Zarkovic told the gathering that the current international economic situation was an integral part of the struggle against colonialism, and he praised Tanzanians for their response in liberating their country economically and politically. Yugoslavia is expected to strengthen its trade relations with Tanzania and has invited the east African country to participate in the Zagreb Trade Fair in September.

    The Tanzanian trade fair attracted exhibitions from several countries including one representing the European Common Market.
