Background: A delegation of Swiss Employers, led by the President of Switzerland's Office for Commercial Expansion, M. Gerard Bauer, visited the Ivory Coast from January 16-20.

During their visit, aimed at discussing and improving trade between the two countries, the eleven-man delegation visited a number of factories and economic projects. They were also received by President Houphouet-Boigny.

The delegation was greeted on their arrival by M. Jean-Baptiste Amethier, the Cabinet Secretary who was representing the Ministry of Economics and Finance; by the Swiss Ambassador to the Ivory Coast, M. Theodore De Mel, and by the Ivory Coast Ambassador in Switzerland, M. Etienne A. Suter.

The delegation held working sessions with officials concerned with tourism, agriculture, the ports and industry.
